In 2023, the TYKS Foundation established the Jarmo Karppi Award, named after one of its major donors, to recognize a cancer researcher. The award will now be presented for the second time and is worth €15,000.
The Jarmo Karppi Award is granted in recognition of significant research work related to cancer. The recipient must be a distinguished researcher in cancer care or cancer nursing and be affiliated with Turku University Hospital. Other merits related to the field, such as participation in the training and mentoring of early-career researchers, will also be considered an advantage when selecting the recipient.
Nominations may be submitted freely in form and should include the reasons for the nomination and the following attachments: the nominee’s CV and a complete list of publications. Nominations should be submitted electronically to: tykssaatio@varha.fi
The TYKS Foundation Board will decide on the recipient of the award at the end of October 2026.
